In the summer of 1989 I was living across the road from the park on Hyde Park Corner, Leeds. I was a 3rd year History with media Studies student. Lazy weekend afternoons with friends, balmy evenings, wandering through the park, pints at the Original Oak in Headingley. I don't remember it raining. It seemed to be sunny all the time back then. Another summer, my sister and I and a group of friends went to a Catholic Youth Weekend near Cromer, Norfolk. I met a girl called Clare. She was from Poole, on the Hampshire coast; I was from Whitby, on the North Yorkshire coast. We spent the weekend talking, laughing easily and walking by the sea that we both loved. Unforgettable and beautiful in so many ways.
