O Servants of the Lord

by Anne Bell & Anthony Hodgson

/

about

This beautiful song was written by Anne Bell in May 2017.

Anne initially contacted me last year via a mutual friend with the lyrics, wondering if I could put them to music. After prayer one morning I did this and soon after we met up at her home in South London to record. The meeting itself was such a lovely time and a real blessing to the both of us, as we shared our stories and discovered how much we had in common.

Regarding the song, Anne wanted it to remain very simple so it has been produced that way, without any additions or effects, except for a tin whistle instrumental with a little chorus to add depth.

We hope you enjoy the song and that it blesses you as it has us.

lyrics

O Servants of the Lord

I will come into his kingdom
I will come to the throne of grace
I will come before the lamb of God
I will see him face to face
Falling down before him
He will lift me to my feet
He will say, ‘Well done, good and faithful one,
Now come and take your place.’

‘In my Father’s house forever
A room I have prepared
Where your treasure awaits you
For the work on Earth you gave
In my Father’s house forever
Your labour is no more
Come take your place beside me
O servants of the Lord

Come walk in my garden
Come see the streets of gold
Come rest beside me
And meet the saints of old
The Banquet awaits you
Your labour is no more
Come take your place beside me
O servants of the Lord
