I Don't Think So

by Anthony Hodgson

about

I wrote this when I lived with my girlfriend in Le Mans, France. She worked for Decathlon, I taught English. It was a hard time: she wanted me to be someone I wasn't and I just wanted us to enjoy our life together. Splitting up wasn't far away. I remember sitting on a bench in the cobbled square beneath the huge cathedral in the old town wondering what it would be like if we did. In the end, she became my wife.

lyrics

I Don’t Think So

When we cross in the street
Does your heart still miss a beat?
Or do you turn away?
I don’t think so
I don’t think so

When we pass in the town square
Do you dream that I still care ?
Or do you just turn away?
I don’t think so
I don’t think so

Baby, don’t leave me
Darling don’t go
You know what they say about me
But how can you just throw away all those years
of heartbreak and pain?

And last night in that bar
Did you wish that you weren’t so far
And did you dream awhile?
I believe so, I believe so
